Since 1967 Frontier Village and Museum has had the honor of being the stewards of our area's history.
Our mission is to preserve the legacies of Grayson County’s earliest pioneers through preservation, education, and living history.
Your support makes it possible to protect irreplaceable structures, safeguard fragile records, and keep traditional skills and stories alive for future generations. Every donation directly strengthens our mission and ensures that the history of Grayson County is not lost, but actively shared, taught, and experienced.

Preservation is the foundation of everything we do.
At Frontier Village and Museum, we are responsible for preserving 11 of Grayson County’s oldest homes and cabins. These structures are among the last physical links to the county’s earliest settlement era. Each building represents the lives, struggles, and achievements of the families who helped shape this region.
We also preserve an extensive collection of frontier-era artifacts that belonged to the very families who built these cabins. These objects offer an authentic connection to daily life in early Grayson County, from tools and household items to personal belongings that tell deeply human stories.
Equally important is the preservation of written history. Our genealogical library and historic research center safeguard newspapers, books, photographs, letters, and other documents that capture the voices and experiences of the past. These records allow descendants, researchers, and visitors to trace history with accuracy and meaning.
Your support ensures these fragile pieces of history are protected, restored, and made accessible for generations to come.

Education is how we bring history to life for every generation
We teach people of all ages about the lessons that can be learned from those who built Grayson County. Their resilience, innovation, and community spirit remain relevant today, and we strive to make those lessons meaningful and accessible.
Our extensive children’s programming allows young learners to immerse themselves in the stories of the past.
Through hands-on activities and guided experiences, children step into history in a way that strengthens and expands what they are learning in school. This approach creates lasting understanding and a genuine connection to heritage.
For older students and adults, we offer programs that deepen historical knowledge and encourage exploration of local and regional history through primary sources and guided learning experiences.
Your contribution helps us continue to provide educational programs that inspire curiosity, strengthen community identity, and make history memorable.
Living history is where the past becomes present.
Through hands-on experiences for visitors of all ages, Frontier Village and Museum brings history out of the pages of books and into real life. Our re-enactors, historical interpreters, and demonstrators recreate daily life as it once was, offering an immersive experience that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
We actively preserve and teach heritage crafts that were essential to frontier life. Through classes and workshops, these skills are passed on to new generations. Examples of our offerings include canning, blacksmithing, sewing, bread making, candle making, fiber arts, cannon firing, and more.
These experiences do more than demonstrate history. They keep traditions alive, build appreciation for past generations, and connect people through shared hands-on learning.
Your support allows us to continue offering these programs, maintain equipment and materials, and ensure these skills are never forgotten.
